Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps is to engage volunteers to strengthen public health, emergency response, and community resiliency.

What is the MRC?

The MRC units are made up of locally based, medical and non-medical volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to promote healthy living throughout the year, and to prepare for and respond to emergencies. MRC volunteers supplement existing local emergency and public health resources.

What Can MRC Volunteers Do?

Support public health, while advancing the priorities of the U.S. Surgeon General:

  • Promoting disease prevention
  • Improving Health Literacy
  • Eliminating health disparities
  • Enhancing public health preparedness
  • Train with local emergency partners
  • Participate in mass immunizations
  • And more...

Why Join an MRC?

When a significant event impacts us, whether it is a hurricane, earthquake, pandemic or terrorist event, many people want to help out. While well intentioned, spontaneous volunteers are usually not pre-credentialed, pre-trained or connected to a larger system to sustain themselves. This poses a safety problem for the other responders to an emergency situation. One goal of the MRC is to ensure that members are identified, screened, trained, and prepared prior to their participation in any activity.
